What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files that websites store in your browser to remember information between visits — things like whether you're signed in, your preferences, or how you use the site.

Under UK law (the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations and the UK GDPR), we're required to tell you what cookies we use and get your consent before setting any that aren't strictly necessary.

What we use and why

CookiePurposeCategoryDuration
__sessionKeeps you signed in (Clerk authentication)Strictly necessarySession
rr_consentRemembers your cookie preferencesStrictly necessary12 months
ph_*PostHog analytics — understanding how the service is used so we can improve it (EU-hosted, no ad tracking)Analytics12 months

Strictly necessarycookies are essential for the service to work — keeping you signed in, or remembering that you've declined analytics. They don't require consent.

Analyticscookies help us understand how the service is used in aggregate. We use PostHog hosted in Frankfurt — data never leaves the EU. We don't use advertising, marketing, social media, or cross-site tracking cookies.

Third-party cookies during checkout

When you complete a purchase, you're briefly taken to a Lemon Squeezy-hosted checkout page. Lemon Squeezy (our payment provider) sets their own cookies to process the transaction securely and prevent fraud. These are governed by Lemon Squeezy's own privacy policy.

How to change your choice

You can change your cookie preferences at any time by:

  • Clearing the rr_consent cookie in your browser — next visit will show the banner again
  • Using your browser's built-in cookie settings to block or delete specific cookies
  • Enabling “Do Not Track” in your browser — we respect this setting automatically
  • Emailing us at privacy@rainbowreels.io and we'll withdraw consent for you
